Acne is one of the most frequently occurring skin diseases. Around 85% of the population has dealt with it at least once. Caused by hormonal changes during puberty, it typically affects young people from around age 11. Almost every teen has had to deal with the characteristic signs of acne, namely blackheads and pimples. This skin condition can also affect people in their thirties and beyond.
Acne can be caused by sebaceous gland hyperactivity, a keratinization disorder of the sebaceous glands, bacterial migration and colonization, or hormonal influences.
